Whose Country are we standing on?
Why we name the Traditional Owners, and how we choose guides.

Every place on this site is the Country of an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people. Where an operator or a community asks to be named, we name them, and we explain rather than mystify.
We book Aboriginal-owned operators where they exist and where the experience is good: a walk with a palawa guide in Tasmania, a Wadandi guide in the caves near Yallingup, Kuku Yalanji guides in the Daintree. We tell you who owns what, and we check it before every season.
Some places ask visitors not to photograph sites, not to enter certain areas, or to carry a permit. We tell you which, and why, before you go. The Country page lists the essentials.
